Mine was changed when I had 10,000 miles, now with 17,000 miles still burning oil. A 1/2 quart every 1,000 miles. They said this is normal

Cars being cars oil is suppose to stay put, that is alot of oil in a 1,000 miles. Pulling oil up past an oil ring and burning in the combustion cycle isn't the norn....

I have a 2009 370z 60,945 miles. Always have used synthethic Castrol oil. Last oil change was 4 months ago. I was driving down the highway and my engine started making a loud noise and and I had to pull over. Towed my car to the`dealer and they said that my engine was totaled!!! "Seize"is the terminology, I believe they used. Very appropiate, as in "seize to exist"(!!!!). There was no oil! how could that be??!! How could my engine consume 5 QTS so soon?? Did I mention that no warning lights lit up? Now they want to charge me $9000 to repair it. I've been reading up on the internet and these models seem to have problems with excessive oil consumption and/or overheating. They have no cooling system (something that Nissan knew there`was a problem with, way back when they were testing the car). Now, since so many problems haven risen because of this, I believe Nissan offers to install a cooling system for a hefty 7 or 8 hundred bucks (ouch!). From what I've read, If you install another cooling system,on your own, those who still have Nissan warranty can get it void. Help! Am I screwed?

And If I go by what Alcorrea says, 1/2 quart per 1000 miles: I had 8000 miles, that still left me with with 1 quart left. I know I was going to have to take it in pronto because of the 8000 miles I logged but still, could it have consumed the 5 quarts??
