Need better tires. Wider up front so as to not push as much. I have placed in all five events with the stock car though. That says something.

Have done my first track day a week ago. Ran straight into engine oil temp issue so the day was limited to 4 lap runs to avoid ECU intervention. My car has been fitted with DBA 2-piece rotors at the front (Part no DBA 52102L and R - these are slotted and directional) - I had to machine up a pair of rotor-hats to mount them and also mill out clearance in the caliper for the cap-screws holding the rotors to the rotor-hats, but since I have access to a mill and a lathe, this was not a problem. I used Endless brake pads - there are several compounds available - I used the S-TR which is a street/track compound - dedicated track days - perhaps the full race would be better, but I drove to the track and didn't want to change pads at the track and then back again before the drive home. Race-spec pads will "kill" rotors very quickly if the rotor temps are not over 200 degrees C.

I also fitted a set of Kumho KU36 tyres (235/40R18 front and 275/30R18 rear) for the exercise. I suspect I can do better with Yokohama A048 or Bridgestone RE55S as these are a dedicated motorsport tyre, but they are not legal for the road as they do not carry a sufficiently hgih load index.

Bear in mind that I am in Australia, not the US, so my choice of brake hardware and tyres may not be available in Continental US.

I was HUGELY impressed with the stability and handling of the car. Nissan have engineered a sweet handling chassis that can use a "heap" more power and the OEM brake calipers with my choice of rotor and pads worked extemely well. I had no trouble staying with a modified 350Z (aftermarket exhaust including hi-flow cats, suspension upgrade and full motorsport - Yokohama - tyres, but with 17-inch wheels so his brakes were smaller).

The major disappointment was oil temps - I have a NISMO cooler and European-specification differential cover on order before the next track day in 10 days time.

Forgot to add - the Australian spec 370Z comes with the optional brake package .. 355mm by 28mm rotors and Akebono 4-piston calipers ..... just to put my comments on braking in context for US owners with the "touring" spec brake package.

I was going to run this last Sundayat Homestead, Fla. but when a Farrari lost his backend and a Japtech Subaru T-Boned him right in the drivers side. I said not today, I don't know who is running out there. The Farrari was a street car no 5 point harness and the driver went to the hospital, hope he is ok. I'm just lo0oking at the post for what is being done for the 370. I have a base but I think I should have waited for the 370Z Sport. I could have got that at $34,755 out the door.

I did not see any 370Z's out there yet even at Sebring just modified 350z"s
