I got my new yellow 370 about a month ago. Under certain light i noticed that different pannels are noticeably different colors.  i talk to the dealership and they told me it was because of the different materials used in construction. I believed them at first but the more i think about it i think there may be a serious problem with paint.  What should I do, is this right?

Every car I have ever owned was like this.  Its most likely the flop of the metal flakes in the paint which varies as the paint cures over the differing contures of the body.  I would not worry about it.

My car is like that as well. You really can't tell on a sunny day but try parking it under some flourescent lights at night and take a look. It looks downright two-toned!

The owners of Red's 370 are complaining as well about the quality of the paint. Hope the MB is OK.

This is an effect of metamerism. Is caused by different lights affecting the pigments used in the paint. It appears from your description that the panels have been painted with a coating with different types of pigments, might be yellow but different suppliers of yellow pigment giving this effect under different light sources.

I have a black 370Z Nismo and the paint seems to be chipping alot! Is there some kind of defect here or what? Do they make a bra for the Nismo yet?

Thanks.
Steve

Everybody is going to be experiencing the chipping on the front of the vehicle. The vehicle is low so if you take it on some back roads you tend to get a little road rash. My plans to solve this is repaint all the fresh tick marks and get that clear 3m bra put on the front, half way up the hood and on the side skirts, I suggest you do the same.

i just purchased my z last saturday. i have the black cherry color. i love that it looks different colors in different lighting. i've been informed thru my research that the 3m clear bra is the way to go. my future father-in-law has it on his black lexus suv. if i could afford it, i'd do the whole car with this stuff!
