Just bought my first Z, it's a 2009 touring coupe with sport package. Question: Ive been driving around with the VDC option off. When should I turn it on? And what is the benefit of keeping it off and or on???

VDC is Vehicle Dynamics Control VDC is composed of 2 main systems: VTD plus VDC full time 4 wheel traction and engine management. VDC is traction control that senses vehicle direction and uses brake, throttle and engine management to help maintain stability. The components of the VDC system are: all wheel drive using the VTD system. When the wheels are spinning without traction or the vehicle is not going in the direction it is being steered, the VDC system kicks in. Direction: uses brakes to slow down wheels to reduce spin and help control vehicle direction. Skidding: yaw and steering wheel sensors use brakes to slow down spinning wheels and re-direct power to the wheel(s) with the best traction to re-gain control. Engine power use engine output to slow spinning by reducing spark to cylinders to cut back power and help re-gain control.
I never take VDC off..just incase

Like every other Z enthusiast, I spent much time looking over every detail about the car. The VDC option had me wondering. So I called the dealers and the told me to keep it off in normal driving conditions. Anything other than commuting such as: taking the hottie next door for a ride, smoking the idiot next to me in a Ford truck who wants to race then yes turn that VDC button on.

Oh and I bought two k&n filters this week. Any inputs on a very good intake system and also possibly a chip for additional horse power.

Yea..I always keep mine on incase at any given moment I feel the need to smoke someone. haha I have the Stillen dual intake and just got their HFC's. The mechanic told me between the exhaust, CAI and HFC's I easily gained 50+ hp. I was looking at a performance chip also, but let that go for now since that will void all mechanical warranties. If I see a good one, I'll keep in touch.

I'm from europe so instead of vdc I have esp, wich is the same system under a different name, anyway i keep it turned on when I'm driving, especially on wet surfaces or if I want to race, for drifts I just deactivated otherwise you can't drift to the max
