What is normal crusing engine oil temp most people are encountering? I have followed a strict breakin (not the standard manufacture one) and in 50-80 degree F weather I can manage 170-50 - 200-80 Usually parks between 180 and 200 unless I drive hard.

From what I remember reading in the owners manual it is 212. You don't want the vehicle getting any higher then that in normal driving conditions. I have see mine idle between 180-212 just b/c of distance traveled. Also I use Royal Purple so in my mind that could be something that helps keep it down. Reason I say this is b/c I have yet to install my oil cooler yet and when used the standard oil Nissan was giving it was easy to go over 230 oil temp in extreme driving. Now with my Royal Purple I do a few runs at the track back to back and it will climb to 220. I have put my car in limp mode once before. I live in NC right on the coast, Hottest month is August. Just a rule of thumb if your just cruising, anything under 212 is good.

Ghost, just curious...where in NC are you from. I'm down here too and just wondering who else in the area is running Z's.

180 - 220 is a normal range under most driving conditions. I run an oil cooler but I track my car. This is where you will notice the oil cooler as I run up to but have never gone over 130 at the track. Still a perfectly acceptable temp. I run in the 180 - 220 range during normal city/highway driving.
You don't really want to run too low (under 180) because then the oil will not get the chance to burn off particulates that build up in the oil and can harm engine components. The Z is manufactured with saftey barriers (limp mode) to protect the internals and engine block from super high temps. I believe you will hit limp mode around 260 so running temps around 220 is perfectly normal.
