I have a lot of the aftermarkets ear and sometimes Nissan's.  I can help push development of performance parts to counter the issues.

Who has experienced these things, especially oil temps over 260 degrees?  What were the conditions related to the high temps?  Post them here in this thread.

I haven't had anything over 260, but under normal driving conditions I run 220- 230. I read this article I think on motor trends website when the 370 firtst came out stating that the sports package comes with a diff and oil cooler. I'll find the article and post it. yeah the oil overheating issue is definitely ridiculous though.

I have gone into limp mode twice. Once was in stop and go traffic hit oil temps of 260 and higher but heat index that day was at 115 the second time was on an overrev when my gf forgot to shift 6mt. i finally broke down and ordered a AM oil cooler to deal with the problem.

On our test car, the oil cooler has cured the limp mode. Its a technosquare part.

I called Technosquare and they don't make the cooler for the G37...so I'm going to go with Stillen for now. My engine and tranny have been replaced because I wasn't aware of the cooling issue...thank goodness for waranties.

Well the dealership couldn't say for sure but said there was an oil pressure problem that led to shavings of metal in the oil. They replaced the entire long block undeer waqarranty. A few month later, my trans had to be replaced and I'm not sure why it failed. I had 35k on my car when this happened. Everything was under warranty so I basically have a brand new car. I had tracked my car three times and I drive fast but I didnt neglect oil changes and such...so not quite sure why I had those problems. I am guessing cooling issues were one of the culprits.

So you have a 370z with 35k on it already? Or do you have a 350z? We had oil starvation problems with the M-Workz car, even with a deep baffled pan. We had to install an accusump. The M-Works car does pull way higher G's than your typical Z though.

Did you run the ester oil? Did your engine have an oil consumption issue from new?

Ya, after talking to some people that have a lot more knowledge than me, I believe it was mostly an oil consumption issue. I went to Stillen last week and got my oil cooler and trans cooler installed. The mechanic there said they spoke to Nissan engineers and Stillen now uses the ester based Redline 10w 30 full synthetic. Before I had used Mobil 1. I checked my oil regularly and never noticed it low. I am now going to stick with the Redline ester based and check my oil every week instead of every month. I dont want to worry typical drivers or sway them from the VQ37. If you drive it hard and weekend track just get the coolers and check your oil

I recently picked up my 370z w/sports package (400 miles currently on engine) and am currently living overseas in Germany (I know what you're thinking....no speed limits). I have to be honest, all this talk of over-heating has got me a little worried. If you can answer a couple of questions for me that would be awesome.

1). Honestly what is the best way to break-in the engine? I've heard a lot of different ways and all say just to be cautious on hard breaking and to heed taking the engine above 4000rpms until the first oil change.

2). If I do decide to buy an oil cooler does it totally screw my warranty?

3). How do I know if I even have an oil cooler? I hear that Nissan can change production at any given time without warning or notification, could it be possible that I do have an oil cooler in mine since it's a later 2009 model?

4). I have to be honest, of course i've opened her up on the autobahn, 125mph at 4200rpms but not sustained for longer than a few seconds. Am I pushing it a little too much? Other than that, it's just normal driving.

Sorry for the book but if you could answer some these questions I would greatly appreciate it.

Ok so I did a little research after posting my last entry which I should have done first but oh well, first time on the forum. I've decided to grab the Stillen oil cooler kit once I get back to the states, it seems to solve the problem from what i've read.

I still would like to know what any of your takes on how to effectively break-in the engine are, until then i'll just continue to drive at inconsistent rates without taking the rpms up too high and of course stay away from hard breaking. I honestly didn't get the car to spend all my time at the track but out here in Germany the autobahn is the track, i just want to be sure i'm attacking this right.

Well i would like wonder why some cars have this issues and others not. I have a 2011 370z and have had no problems. I live in germany and have had it for almost a year now. I have takin it on the autobahn alot of times. i have had it to 160 mph.. i have also had it up and down from 100 mph to 160 and so for about 2 and a half hours straight to get home quick one day. Still no super high oil temps. If you use a car the car will get a little warmer, but no problems yet. So for me, i do not need an oil ccooler and i would assume most 370z owners wouldn't need one either.
