Im sure any of you with the manual have experienced the high rev blips you get when you shift into neutral to "coast" at higher speeds. The revs seem to stay high and slowly decrease as your speed decreases, I assume to stay "ready" for action while your still moving at a good pace. I find the neutral shift blip to someimes a bit much for the situation and maybe a bit of an annoyance.
What I have discovered though is that this phenomenon only occurs if you have any pressure on the clutch at all. So many of us are exerting a small pressure on the clutch even though we are out or gear and not shifting. If you completely remove your foot from the clutch when you put it in neutral, I have not seen it blip, it just goes to less than 1K rpm.
Hope this helps.
That would eplain the weird rolling to the stop blip in neutral I was getting during my press drive.
