I've had my 370Z for a good 2k miles now and I've noticed a slight lag in throttle response. I'm wondering if this is common...? It's not a long lag, but it makes it rather difficult starting on a steep incline without either more roll-back than I like or too much clutch riding. Could this also be an effect of the ultra-heavy clutch/dual flywheel assembly? My previous car was a highly tuned turbo with a Clutchmaster stage 3 clutch and it had zero throttle lag with near instant engagement and it was easier to drive than this. Any suggestions?
I thought electronic throttle was supposed to give better, quicker input; but quite frankly I prefer the good old fashioned cable.

I noticed the same thing at first but the tune from Technosquare took care of that little annoyance!

Umm... i think the lag that youre having is actually caused by a massive flywheel, but the is a different throttle lag that you can see if youre having basically when you just start the car from cold, warm it up about 5 min then hit the throttle in neutral like just hit it dont hold it see how high the rpms go do this a few times and record the average rpm limit it gets to make sure you hit it exactly the same way it should go up to or above like 2.5 k or so then drive the car around for like 30min stop somewhere do the same thing record the rpm ranges then drive another 10 min do same thing. if the rpms are same or near the recorded range youre ok but if they r lower like 1k o 1.5k yeah you got a problem.

ohh forgot to tell you make sure ur oil temp. below 185 degrees at all test times and turn off DVC it actually lowers the throttle response by 15% i think. not to mention the nissans max responce even w/ the DVC off is lowered by 5-10% thats why the guy above suggested ECU re-flash buy Technosquare

Your sure about that on the DVC reducing throttle response? Never heard anything like that before.

I don't believe the VDC reduces throttle response, but it does seem to put a cap on performance. The throttle "lag" I've noticed has been pretty consistent throughout the ~8k miles I've driven the car now, which I attribute to just lazy ECU tuning. I intend on having Technosquare reflash my ECU in the near future, which should help get some of the little quirks out.
Then I will need to address the atrocious clutch! There is no such thing as smooth, normal driving. Either as slow as your grandmother, or like a bat out of hell seem to be the only 2 driving options...

Look into installing a Under Drive Pulley before you do a reflash, I just installed the one from Stillen, and the vehicle seems to snap more. It has snowed recently where I am so I have yet to really get on it to see a bigger difference, I see it mainly in 3rd.

I totally agree with the comment about only two driving modes, i totally agree. You can get it smooth but you've got to crawl until you get into 3rd or you've got to just rag it away from every single stop. It's going to get me pulled over! I also have the clutch noises that seem to be common, sounds like plates rattling when i put th eclutch down to coast towards a junction and some noises putting it into 1st and 2nd. I was worried at first but most people seem to think its all in a nissan 370z stride. Taking after my dad he had a 300zx twin turbo in the late 90's early 00's. Only time i've seen him panic was when we were approaching a roundabout and there was "a bit" of brake fade. Callipers and brakes got replaced... happened again a couple of months later, car was gone shortly after, too much to keep on top of it!
